Agee, James cultural definition

A twentieth-century American writer and critic, best known for his classic Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, with photos by Walker Evans, an account of sharecroppers (see sharecropping) in Alabama during the 1930s. He was posthumously awarded a 1958 Pulitzer Prize for A Death in the Family, his only novel.
